Dr Martin Vaughan
Martin has completed 30 years policing with the vast majority being in various Criminal Investigation Departments. In 2001 he became the lead crime trainer for Gwent Police and was responsible for the development and implementation of new interview programmes in line with the requirements of NOS as outlined by Skills for Justice and College of Policing. He was responsible for the Interview Management Development Programme for the Force. He has designed and delivered Child Protection Training across the UK.
Martin has been involved as an Interview Adviser on numerous high profile investigations including cases of child abuse, sexual abuse, high stake fraud and over 80 murder investigations. He has received 16 Commendations for the high quality of his work throughout his career. In recent years he has been a Force Interview Adviser and has held the position of an ACPO Accredited Interview Adviser. He has sat on several strategic implementation groups as an interview adviser including the Digital Interviewing Board, the PIP Implementation Team and the Pan Gwent Child Protection Forum.
Academically Martin holds a MA in Investigation Management, a BA(Hons) in Post Compulsory Education and Training, a Post Graduate Diploma in Child Forensic Psychology and Law, and a Certificate in Education. Martin is a Practitioner Member of the International Investigative Interviewing Research Group (iIIRG) and has presented at numerous interviewing conferences both nationally and internationally.
Martin completed a PhD in Criminal Justice Studies at Portsmouth University at the Centre of Forensic Interviewing under the supervision of Professor Becky MILNE, where he researched the:

Julie Vaughan
MSW, BA, Pg Cert (CPS), Pg Cert(FLH)
Julie has over 35 years of Child Care Social Work experiences, having worked in Local Authority and the voluntary sector. This experience encompasses a broad range of work with Children in Need, Looked After Children, Safeguarding Children and Child Protection.
Julie has worked as an independent social worker, undertaking assessments for the court in Child Care Proceedings.
Julie is an extremely experienced Child Protection Case Conference Chairperson and Independent Reviewing Officer having performed this role for over 19 years. As a Principal Officer in Child Care Julie has chaired a variety of strategic forums including child exploitation. She has been responsible for designing and delivering numerous Child Protection Training programmes which have been delivered to child care professionals in both the private and public sectors.
Julie is highly skilled in completing Form F - Fostering Assessments and Special Guardianship Assessments.
Academically Julie studied at Swansea University graduating with a BA in Social Science. She continued her studies at Dundee University and graduated with a Master of Social Work and a certificate in Child Protection Studies.
Recently Julie as obtained a Pg.Cert in Family and Local History from University of Dundee.
Julie is registered with the Care Council for Wales and BASW
